The Rotating Qianjing Trick

Qianjing is an important part of the Erhu. If your Qianjing is worn out, you might find that the Erhu goes out of tune easily, the pitch is different when you pull and push the bow although playing the same note and there is increased wolf tones.

But what do you do if you do not have any string to tie a new Qianjing or do not know how to do it?

Well, you can purchase a roll of Qianjing string at our online store, and learn how to tie the Qianjing from this video.

But if you're in need of a quick fix, try this rotating Qianjing trick:

You rotate the Qianjing string to a fresh new spot.

Might not work if the Qianjing is wound too tight though.

  1. Hmm... why didn't I ever think of that?!

By the way, to loosen tension on the qianjin slightly, can always just press down v lightly on the erhu string as u rotate the qianjin, right? Won't have the problem of the Qianjin too tight, lah.

  2. Well, I'm actually referring to the Qianjing being wound around the next too tightly or too many rounds around the neck making it difficult to turn.

  3. Hi. I would like to ask what is the thing that people used to support their huqin when they play it while standing. Is a belt or something? Do you sell that?

  4. Its a kind of plate where you attach to your belt and where the erhu rests on. Yes we sell that. But what we have may not fit all types of Erhu.
